PUBLIC EDUCATION SESSION: Municipal Electric & Gas Alliance

A meeting will be held on this date from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Town of Binghamton Community Center, located at 1905 Coleman Road, Binghamton, NY.

The Town of Binghamton is working with MEGA (Municipal Electric & Gas Alliance - to explore a new program called Community Choice Aggregation (CCA).  You and your neighbors increase your individual buying power through a group purchase of electricity.

As a participant in MEGA’s CCA, you may:
- save money on your electric bill
- avoid sudden spikes in the price of your electricity
- stop energy telemarketers and door-to-door sales
- get access to renewable ‘green’ energy

Even after our community joins MEGA’s CCA, you have the choice to opt-out and stay with the utility for electric supply.  There are also opportunities for customers to opt-in to the CCA Program.

While we do not know the exact price for electricity through the CCA, we will know the price before we must decide if we will continue our participation in the CCA Program.

How does CCA work?  Take a look at ‘MEGA’s CCA 101’.  To learn more, please join us at a public education session at the Town of Binghamton Community Center on Thursday, April 27, 2017, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.  Please feel free to bring your electric bill and your questions!  Questions can also be directed to MEGA’s CCA team at or by calling 518.533.5399.

If you have questions specific to the Town of Binghamton, you should contact Supervisor Tim Whitesell, our CCA Liaison, at or (607) 772-0357, ext. 11.

MEGA is a not-for-profit local development corporation who has been serving the Town of Binghamton with energy services since 2015.
